FAQ for Home Educators

• How does this site work?
  This site contains details of Local Authority staff who have responsibility for the monitoring and support of Elective Home Education. Home educating families can rate these members of staff and submit details of their experiences of them.
  
  The aim of the site is to provide home educators with a chance to find out about others experiences of their Local Authority before deciding whether or not to engage with them.
• How do I rate a member of staff?
  At the bottom of the page for that member of staff is a simple form to fill in to rate them. Tick the relvant boxes and hit submit, it's that easy.
• How do I submit information about a member of staff?
  At the bottom of the page for that member of staff is a simple form to fill in to send in information about them. Fill in the box and hit submit, it's that easy.
• Who runs this site? Why do you bother to do it?
  I do. This is something I do in my spare time, hence it being sporadically updated. See the support page to find out how you can support this site.
  
  My family had a particularly poor experience of our LA. Had we known what to expect beforehand chances are we wouldn't have engaged with them at all. On the flip side there are some LA's who provide a fantastic level of support and knowing that might prompt families, that otherwise wouldn't, in that area to contact their LA and make use of the resources/support on offer.
  
  Though I think it's important to name and shame the staff and Local Authorities who are acting outside of their legal and moral remit I didn't this site up purely to have a dig at them. The majority of reviews and votes I've received have been overwhelmingly positive about their authorities and staff. Sharing this good practice can only be a good thing.
• The person I want to submit information about isn't listed. What do I do?
  Staff are only added to the database when information is submitted about them. If the staff you have information about is not listed then just email me the information in and I will create a new entry for them.
• I've sent in information but it hasn't appeared yet. What do I do?
  Submissions are edited only for presentation and anonymity. Nothing is censored or just not posted. Running this site is something I do in the little spare time I have. If your submission hasn't appeared it is probably simply because I haven't had chance yet so give it a few days and it should appear. If you include your email address with your submission I will send you a quick message to acknowledge receipt of the submission.
• Is the information I send in anonymous? I'm worried about the LA finding out what I said.
  Yes. Unless specifically requested anything you send in is posted anonymously. Once the information is posted the e-mail is deleted so there is no way of it being traced back to you.
