Biography from Nottingham Uni staff page: Val taught English in secondary schools for a number of years in Britain and for a period in British Columbia, Canada. She was an Education Officer for Nottinghamshire Local Education Authority before she joined the School of Education. She currently teaches part-time on the English PGCE course. Val also works as a consultant for two Local Authorities as an Elective Home Education Adviser. This involves monitoring the educational provision for children and, where appropriate, liaising with other agencies within Children's Services to ensure that the Every Child Matters agenda is being met. In this role she takes the lead on Safeguarding Issues. |
